The first issue of “Community Voices” has been released, a publication that Community Shares is partnering on. This is a semi-monthly, online publication that contains uplifting stories from our communities about how they are growing civic engagement, in its many forms. We hope you enjoy it, forward it, subscribe, and consider sharing your own stories by being a contributing writer. Broad distribution is essential in bringing community work out of isolation and into the mainstream, so we can support and learn from one another. Please help us spread the word about “Community Voices”.

Our public narrative is currently dominated by the priorities of big business, large non-profit institutions, government administrators, politicians, and traditional news media-with the assumption that their actions and decisions matter most to our communities. But, community is really built through the unsung work of countless community volunteers, civic associations, small businesses, street-level non-profits, and neighborly kindness. Their stories need to be told so that others can learn from them and be inspired to act.
We invite you to share your story to the publisher at [email protected].
