Community Shares Board Endorses Mental Health Levy

OCTOBER 25, 2022 – At the request of member charity the Health Resource Center, the Board of Directors of Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati recently endorsed the Hamilton County Mental Health Levy and encourages our stakeholders to vote in favor of its passage in the general election.

The Hamilton County Mental Health Levy will be on the ballot November 8th at a time of unprecedented levels of need in our community. Coming out of the pandemic, services for mental health among children and adults, housing, and employment assistance are critical. Without the levy, many families and individuals without insurance or the ability to pay for mental health care would have no where else to turn. The levy will provide resources for school-based providers who can partner with teachers to identify students in need of treatment. Mental health, housing, and employment assistance services funded by the levy help reduce crime, as it expands the county’s resources for many in crisis who are in need of such programs rather than going through the criminal justice system.
